Fishing Charter Service -- 2009

Check back with us about Summer 2010 Charter Plans

Kingfish-8EMR Red Snapper-27EMR Tarpon-18EMR Redfish-99EMR If anyone wants to catch big fish this summer, join me in Port O'Connor, Texas where I'll be teaming up with Capt. Joe Surovik (Coastal Safari Charters). I'll be fishing in my ol' stomping grounds of "POC," where Miss Amy and I raised our sons for a number of years---and where I fished and guided day after day. We'll be fishing out of 28-foot Mako boats and focusing on bigger snapper and kingfish offshore, and then moving inshore where we'll target tarpon and bull redfish schools. Both Capt. Surovik and I have spent years fishing Port O' Connor.

If considering a charter, keep in mind that snapper season is short this year, lasting only from June 1 through Aug. 4. After that, bull redfish and tarpon peak out for a month or more. Another option: we also offer jetty fishing trips and fish for keeper-size redfish.

Prices & Deposit

Deposit for a day of fishing is $200. Cancellation and refund must be made seven or more days before the chartered day. If the weather turns bad, we can reschedule

Offshore:

$950 for an offshore trip, with up to six fishermen. We can stop at the jetties or Pass on the way back in, and try for redfish and other inshore fish, if you'd like.

Jetty and Pass Cavallo:

$550 for a day at the jetty and Pass Cavallo, for up to six fishermen. This is a mixed bag; you can try for trout, Spanish mackerel and keeper redfish at the jetty, then anchor up in Pass Cavallo for bull redfish and occasional tarpon. In August, kingfish and tarpon are close (or inside) the jetties. Rolling tarpon can be cast to.

Jonboat -- Surf Wadefishing Trips:

for $250 a day, I can take two fishermen to the jetties or the Pass when the weather is good. This may involve landing at the beach for live bait, surf fishing when the Gulf is calm enough, fishing near the Pass with heavier tackle for bull redfish, and of course stopping at the big jetties four miles away, for keeper redfish and trout. Weekdays only, please. This is a 15-foot jonboat; combined weight of the two guest anglers not to exceed 400 pounds.

IN FLORIDA

In early July, I'll be taking folks on guided scallop trips in the Big Bend area out of Steinhatchee (on the Gulf side). In autumn, we'll be fishing on the Atlantic side near Matanzas Inlet for keeper-size redfish.

Thanks, Joe (joe@seafavorites.com)
